12 Hours of Movement Misery 2025 ๐ฅโ : REGISTRATION NOW OPEN
โ
Our craziest event of the year is here ๐! Join us on August 16 from 8am-8pm to climb as many routes + boulders as you possibly can throughout all 6 Movement DFW gyms with a partner of your choosing.
We`ll wrap up the day with an after-party at Movement Grapevine complete with raffles, a costume contest (dressing up with your partner is highly encouraged), awards, food + drinks, and more! โ
โ
This competition is for EVERYONE - members and non-members, climbers of all levels. Come and get it - find a partner (`cause misery loves company) and register now at the link in bio ๐โ
โ
This year`s shirt design (pictured, @turdrodeo with the ๐ฅ, as always) draws inspiration from the Hanged Man tarot card (the 12th card in most traditional decks) - representing ultimate surrender, sacrifice, or being suspended in time. Quite fitting, don`t you think?

Who says you canโt get your MFA while working on a V4? ๐งโ๐จ
Thereโs science behind what makes a beautiful climb, and our setting team at The Hill just proved it by applying the fundamentals of graphic design to their craft.
Hereโs your crash course in the principles they used:
emphasis โซ๏ธ // draws attention to the most important part of your design
proximity ๐ด // grouping related elements of a design together
contrast โช๏ธ๐ด // creating noticeable difference between design elements. adds visual interest to a design, as the human eye naturally gravitates towards higher contrast
balance โช๏ธ // the distribution of visual weight within a composition, creating a sense of stability and equilibrium. ensuring that no single element overpowers the others
white space ๐ต // areas of a design left intentionally blank, creating breathing room + clarity in a design
visual movement ๐ก // explores how the human eye is guided through a design, creating a journey from one element to the next
repetition ๐ก // similar elements are reused or repeated throughout a design, creating visual consistency + unity

Our 2025 Pride shirts are here, illustrated by DMV-based artist Helena Wu! Weโre donating $10 in proceeds from every shirt sold in June to one of our favorite LGBTQIA+ community organizations, @myresourcectr ๐ณ๏ธโ๐
ย
Resource Center provide programs and assistance to LGBTQIA+ communities and anyone impacted by HIV/AIDS through advocacy, health, + education, and has been serving DFW for over 4 decades!
ย
About the artist: Helena is a Rockville, Maryland-based freelance illustrator whose work features dreamy colors and nature-inspired vibes across video games, product design, and local art markets throughout the DMV region. She actively engages with the local art scene, frequently tabling at markets throughout Baltimore and the DMV area. Helenaโs been climbing since 2016 as a boulderer at heart, though sheโll always offer to clean up sport anchors just to spend a little longer on the wall. She previously worked on the Movement Rockville Murals in 2023, always trying to merge her artistic and climbing hobbies together. This year, she was given the opportunity to create a fun, dynamic graphic to showcase the vibrancy of the queer climbing community for this yearโs Pride design, reflecting her love for finding new ways to subtly celebrate queer identity and explore gender expression. ๐
