Located in Denver’s historic Five Points neighborhood, Movement RiNo is a first-of-its-kind community concept partnering with Improper City—a cafe, food truck park and beer garden. Once a tin factory, then renovated in 2018, RiNo stretches out to 40,000 square feet, with nearly 200 boulder problems to suit every level and style of the climber. Whether it’s bouldering, taking a class, or having a beer—Movement RiNo is the place to gather with friends.

Everyone say hi Elle! 👋 Elle is a routesetting apprentice at Movement Boulder and also works the front desk! recently we got the chance to ask them about their climbing journey 👇
“I have been climbing for 6 years and working in the industry for 5! 3 years at legacy Summit, and now 2 years at Movement!
My most memorable climbing experiences have been competing in 24hrs of Horseshoe Hell at Horseshoe Canyon Ranch in Arkansas. I got my first Hell tattoo at last year’s event, and in a beautiful twist of fate, I met my current roommate while they were working the booth!!
I was diagnosed last year with a chronic inflammatory autoimmune disorder called Axial Spondyloarthritis. The pain and fatigue, at times, make climbing and training really hard. I originally lost a lot of strength and saw a huge decrease in my climbing abilities. It’s been really difficult mentally. I feel a lot of pressure to perform as a climber, and to always be improving. I’ve had to adjust my mindset. With help from immunotherapy meds and my physical therapist, I’m starting to find my flow again!
Community is the heart and soul of this sport - lean into it!”

✨ MEMBER SPOTLIGHT ✨
Meet Tim! Tim has been a part of the Englewood community, and just recently completed a trip to Kilimanjaro. We got the chance to ask him a few questions about his trip and what preparation has been like.
Can you tell us about what your training looked like within the gym in preparation for the trip?
Training for Kilimanjaro was A LOT of stair stepping and high incline treadmill. I try to be at the gym roughly 4-5 times a week and for several months prior to Kilimanjaro I always finished the workout with cardio.
Are there any mental or physical blockers that you have had to overcome?
It can always be a challenge to start training for something that is months out. Luckily I have some AMAZING climbing/fitness friends who helped keep me accountable for my training regiment.
What’s next on your climbing or hiking bucket list?
Next on the list is a good question - I am trying to hit all of the National Parks but that is a pretty long term goal. I’d love to get back down to Patagonia and do more exploration down there. Maybe a trip in 2026 will have to happen...
If you’d like to share your story, shoot us a DM—we’d love to feature you in our member spotlight! ✨

have you ever wondered where your lost shoes disappear to? 👀
If you’ve been at RiNo recently, you may have noticed a new art installation. This sculpture is made mostly from the piles of used-up climbing shoes left in the lost-and-found over the years. The artist, Alexander Vesenka, is a maker (@alexandervesenka) and doughnut baker (@bonutsdoughnuts), along with being a familiar face on our Front Desk.
“Pick up Your Damn Shoes” is an ode to, and loving jab at our terrific community here at Movement RiNo.

A-D route grading is back! 🌟
As of today (March 3), +/- grading will be retired and replaced with A-D grading at all Movement gyms. We`ve experimented with many grading systems across our gyms, and through our collective experience, we feel that A-D offers the most optimal in-gym experience when combined with consensus grading.
This A-D and consensus dynamic duo offers three key benefits ⬇️
1️⃣ Subjectivity of grading: Your experience with a climb is unique to you! Our routesetters put a lot of thought into every grade, considering diverse perspectives, climbing styles, and experiences. We propose grades, but it’s the climbing community that ultimately shapes them through feedback and consensus. Using the YDS A-D system for routes in combination with consensus tags, we aim to keep grades as fair and consistent as possible while staying true to local norms.
2️⃣ Increased granularity improves the ability to self-curate your experience: We know that tracking progress and performance is important to many climbers, and with a more granular grade offering, session curation and performance tracking is improved.
3️⃣ Authentic to the core of our sport: The most common grading system for sport climbing is the YDS A-D system. Grades vary wildly depending on the area, first ascensionist, ethics, etc., but we feel it is important to align with this system as it provides an experience that is relatable and authentic to the sport.
Grading isn’t an exact science, and it’s always evolving alongside the climbing community. While grades will never be perfect, they create a shared language for setting goals, tracking progress, and finding the right challenge.
Whether grades push you to try harder or just serve as a rough guideline, we’re stoked to roll out this change and we hope you are too! Climb on 🧗
