Opened in 2019, Callowhill remains the largest climbing gym in Pennsylvania, located in the heart of Philadelphia. Encompassing 37,000 square feet, it features an expansive bouldering floor, a dedicated roped-climbing area, a yoga studio, a comprehensive fitness center, and a full retail shop. New Gym Director just dropped!
✨Introducing Michael!✨
Michael’s a PA native, a long-time climber (he also likes bikes and the Birds 🟩🦅!) and has a strong background in management. A fun fact is that he was at Callowhill’s Grand Opening party back in 2019!
❓Here’s a few questions we asked Michael:
🔹Did you choose climbing or did it choose you?
I think I was always destined to climb something. I was climbing trees and furniture when I was super young. Once I was invited by my coworkers and I was hooked for life.
🔹 Do you have a favorite climbing area?
I have two favorite climbing areas. One is the New River Gorge. I love the boulders there and the wide variety it offers. I also love Rocktown, GA. I think it’s the hidden gem of the south and off the beaten path.
🔹 What is your favorite way to relax?
My favorite way to relax is watching a new show or riding bikes. I am excited to ride around Philadelphia and to be able to ride to work come springtime!
🔹 What is something you think everyone should do at least once in their lives?
I think everyone should enjoy a concert at the Red Rocks amphitheater in Morrison, CO. It’s such a unique experience. My first concert it was raining and it was such an amazing time. I’ll never forget the experience!
