Fountain Valley Rally (FVR) is an all-levels premier bouldering competition that brings the community together for an unforgettable experience. Join us this year to celebrate climbing’s past while pushing into the future. From old-school taped climbs requiring classic grit to modern, dynamic climbs with large features and coordination moves, FVR showcases the full evolution of climbing!

FVR isn’t just any comp – it’s a full-day experience. The qualifier format will be modified redpoint and include all climbing levels, while the finals format will be completely unique and feature the open division finalists. Expect a thrilling and engaging spectacle that captivates competitors and spectators alike. And it doesn’t stop at climbing – t-shirts, food, drinks, a vendor village, interactive games, prizes, and awards will keep the energy high all day long!

  • Overview

    qualifier round overview

    • Qualifier rounds are modified redpoint format. Climbers can earn points by completing boulders. Total score will be determined by the 5 most difficult boulders committed.
    • Climbers are allowed to share beta and watch each other.
    • Honor system, so please no cheating!
    • Two witnesses are required to confirm a completed climb and sign your score card.

    • Top 6 open category competitors from the Male, Female, and Non-Binary divisions will be invited to participate in a live finals at 5 pm.
    • Finals format will be unique and revealed closer to the competition date.
    • Everyone is invited to spectate!

    • Competitors will receive limited edition shirts. Sizing is guaranteed for the first 100 sign-ups.

    FVR is an all-levels competition, regardless of your climbing experience. Open category competitors We welcome competitors to choose the skill and gender category they are most comfortable with. You will be competing against those in the same category/skill level as you. As a general rule, your skill category should be determined by the hardest grade you regularly redpoint in the gym.
