horror at the hill: saturday, october 26

This is a fun, Halloween inspired competition that consists of a 3-hour redpoint round for climbers of ALL skill levels, followed by a spooky onsight finals round not just for Open, not just for Advanced, but for Beginner and Intermediate as well! There will be raffles, spooky climbs, beer, vendors, a costume contest and more!

There will be two waves of competition – pick the time slot that you want to compete in!

• Wave 1: 10:00 am – 1:00 pm (Check-in 9:00 am)
• Wave 2: 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm (Check-in 1:00 pm)
• Finals
  • Beginner, Intermediate, + Advanced Final: 6:00 pm
  • Open Final: 7:00 pm
• Raffle, Costume Contest, Awards: 8:00 pm

how it works

There are 3 hours in each redpoint wave for competitors to climb and log sends into KAYA. Here’s the rule breakdown:

• You will be able to climb as many boulder problems as you want as many times as you want.
• Each boulder problem will have a point value to it.
• Your top five boulder problems count as your total score. There will be no flash bonus.
• Honor system, so please no cheating!
• We will be using the KAYA app for scoring, so make sure you have it installed and set-up before the competition!

We’ll wrap up the day with a finals round for all categories! Finalists will be called at ~5:20 pm for Beginner and Intermediate, ~6:20pm for Advanced and Open. If you think you’ll make Finals, plan to be in the gym at the correct time. You must be present when we call finalists to compete in Finals.

We will be taking day-of walk-in competitors for all categories. However, if you plan to compete in Open you MUST sign-up prior to day-of the competition if you want to be eligible to compete in Finals!

Competitor tickets include a competition t-shirt (guaranteed for first 300 sign-ups, sizing is first come first serve), drinks before finals, entry to our costume contest (if you wish to participate), and raffle tickets for the chance to win prizes! Spectating passes are free all day!

category breakdown

Competitors can compete in the male, female, or non-binary category for each skill level. We welcome competitors to choose the skill and gender category they are most comfortable with. You will be competing against those in the same category/skill level as you. As a general rule, your skill category should be determined by the hardest grade you regularly redpoint in the gym. You must be 16+ to compete.

• Beginner: VB – V2
• Intermediate: V2 – V4
• Advanced: V5 – V8
• Open: V8+
