Is it easy to manage my membership?
Yes! With the member portal you can book classes, join waitlists, view your visits and purchases, and make changes to your membership. You’ll access your account using a one-time passcode sent to the email or phone number tied to your account.

Can I freeze my membership if I know I won’t be using it?
Yes! We know stuff comes up, so monthly members can freeze and thaw their membership via the member portal. Freezes must last for a minimum of 1 month. Prepaid memberships (annual and short term) cannot be frozen or paused.
- Monthly Billed Members – Freezes must begin on the first day of your billing cycle, and the deadline to request a freeze is 5 days prior to your billing day. Freeze fees by region/location:
• Bay Area: $13 per member per month
• Chicago: $12 per member per month
• Colorado: $12 per member per month
• DMV Area: $12 per member per month
• Fountain Valley: $12 per member per month
• Portland: $12 per member per month
• Texas: $12 per member per month
• Philadelphia (Callowhill & Fishtown): $10 per member per month
• Valhalla: $10 per member per month
• New York City (Gowanus, Harlem & LIC): $13 per member per month - Household memberships with a mix of frozen and active members pay a freeze fee for each frozen member PLUS the standard membership rates for those that are active.
- Your membership will thaw automatically at the end of your requested freeze period, or you can thaw in the middle of a billing cycle via the member portal or at the front desk. When thawing in the middle of your billing cycle, the prorated amount for the rest of the billing cycle is due. If not paid that day, the amount will roll into the upcoming month’s billing and you will be billed both the full dues amount PLUS the prorated amount from your thaw the previous month.

Can I bring someone as a guest if I have a membership?
Yes! Each member on an account receives twelve guest passes per calendar year and can use one per calendar month. Gear rental is included every time you bring a guest!
Guest passes reset monthly on the 1st of the month and passes do not accrue. You can see your guest pass balance in the customer portal.
Guest passes cannot be used when the membership is frozen.
Bring a Friend Day
All members can bring a guest anytime on the first Friday of every month! This guest does not count against your yearly guest pass total and gear rental for your guest is included.Guest Intro to Rope Climbing
Need a friend to belay you? We’ll teach them how to manage the ropes for free.Reserve up to two guest spots per day in our regularly scheduled Intro to Rope Climbing classes. Classes can be booked through the front desk or via the website at no charge by using the customer type Member Guest. You must be there to check in your guest at the gym on the day of their lesson.
Remember – the Intro to Rope Climbing class is always free for you. As an added bonus for your guests (and new climbing buddies), gear rental and use of the facility after the lesson is included!
Guests new to Movement!
Have a friend that has never visited a Movement gym before? Members can bring up to 2 first-time guests for free each day! These first-time guests do not count against your yearly guest pass total and gear rental for your guests is included. -

How do I cancel my membership?
Monthly memberships must be cancelled via the member portal.
- Cancellation requests for monthly memberships must be submitted at least 5 days prior to your billing day. All cancellations take effect at close of business on the last day of the requested billing cycle; cancellations cannot be prorated to cancel mid-billing cycle.
- Standard monthly memberships are committed to 2 full months of dues before being eligible to cancel.* This includes the first month paid at sign up, and a minimum of 1 additional month of recurring billing. Freeze fees do not fulfill this requirement. *Promotional offering terms may vary.
Annual and Prepaid memberships are non-refundable.

Who qualifies for a Student Membership?
Children under 18, high school students, and full-time undergrad/graduate students are eligible for our discounted student membership. Household memberships cannot be combined with student memberships.
Students 18 and older must provide proof of full-time student status within 21 days of sign up and again every year on their anniversary, to remain at the discounted student rate.
Dues automatically adjust to the individual rate if proof is not provided within 21 days. Proof can be submitted at sign up or via the member portal.

Who qualifies for a Household Membership?
Household Memberships can have a maximum of 2 adults (18 and older) per membership. The primary and secondary members can be 2 adults (18+) that share the same residence, or an adult and their child 13-17 years old.
Additional Children of any age can be added to this membership regardless of the number of adults, but they must be under 18 years old. Rates vary depending on the number of adults, the number of children, and if any of the children are over the age of 13.
Everyone must live at the same address.

How do household memberships work? What is the breakdown of member dues?
Movement offers household memberships for two members ages 13 and older. Members can be added or removed. There can be a max of two adults (18+) on a single membership account and any additional children of theirs, 17 and under. If a primary member cancels, their household membership will not automatically be cancelled, however their rate may be adjusted based on the pricing for that membership.
The household membership rate is variable based on your membership needs and the primary location you visit which we refer to as your home gym. It breaks down as:
- Primary member – individual member rate
- Secondary member – a reduced rate compared to the individual rate
- Additional children – a further reduced rate for children under the age of 13

What is my home gym and how does it affect my membership rate?
Your home gym is either where you sign up for membership or the gym you visit most frequently. Since our gyms have different membership rates, your home gym determines your monthly/annual prepaid rate.
Life and job changes happen so we keep an eye on gym visits regularly. If you are visiting another gym with a higher rate more frequently than your home gym, your membership will be moved to the more frequently visited gym and dues will be automatically adjusted to that gym’s equivalent membership rate. You can request a transfer to a different gym, including a lower rate gym if your visits to that other gym are more frequent or you have moved. Home gym changes are applied to the next billing cycle and any requests for changes to a home gym are due at least 5 days before your billing day. For household memberships, we look at the total of all visits for the household to determine home gym.
Annual prepaid members who visit a higher rate gym more frequently may be adjusted in home gym location and prepaid dates may be adjusted based on paid rate versus market rate of the new home gym.

How does the monthly billing process work? When is my billing day?
Recurring monthly billing will begin one month after your initial membership purchase and will auto renew and bill automatically monthly. Your monthly billing day is the same day of the month as your initial membership purchase*, so if you sign up on the 5th of the month you’ll always bill on the 5th of the month. If your initial sign up was at the end of the month, your billing day will vary depending on how many days there are in the current month. For example, if your initial sign up was on the 31st of the month, you’ll bill on the 31st in March, the 30th in April, etc. All account changes (i.e. freezing, cancelling) must be submitted via the member portal at least 5 days before your billing day.
*If you purchased your membership before April 6, 2026 your billing day is the 1st of the month.
On-account purchases will be billed to your payment information on file on the 1st and 15th of the month, in addition to your Recurring Billing Day. Any open payments will bill on whichever date is coming next.
Payments appear on your bank or credit card statement as “Movement Gym Name.” If your home gym is Columbia, it will read Movement Columbia. Sometimes payments decline—no worries, we’ll notify you by email if that happens. As soon as you’re able, you’ll want to clear up the balance via the member portal or at the front desk. If the payment isn’t cleared within 5 days, a $10 fee will be added to the balance, and we’d love to help you avoid that.

Can I add a member to my account?
Yes! If the person you are adding qualifies under our household membership requirements, you can add them at any time and we’ll prorate their dues. There is no initiation fee charged when adding a member.
For monthly members, the current billing cycle is prorated, and the new billing rate goes into effect on the next billing day.
For Annual Prepaid members, the prorate is calculated to the current expiration date and is based on the monthly membership rate. The discounted annual rate is not prorated because that rate only applies when a full annual payment is made and is not prorated.

How can I change my billing information?
You can submit new credit card or banking information and pay balances via the member portal.

Can I remove members from my account?
Yes! Monthly members can request additional members on their account to be cancelled at the end of any billing cycle. There is no fee to remove a member. To remove a member, submit your request via the member portal at least five days before your billing day. Once removed, all current membership rules and requirements apply to add someone back onto the membership.

What if I can't afford a membership?
Movement’s vision is to transform the world through the experience of climbing, yoga, and fitness but we understand that barriers exist to these sports.
Our Teal Membership is a need-based membership for those experiencing financial barriers and who otherwise wouldn’t be able to access climbing, yoga, and fitness at our gyms.
The Teal Membership is part of Movement’s Move with Purpose program. Move with Purpose reduces barriers to accessing these sports and enables more people to be a part of the Movement community.

Can I use HSA or FSA funds for my membership?
Yes! We’ve partnered with Truemed to make it easy to use your Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA) for your Movement membership. If you qualify, you can pay with pre-tax dollars and save up to 30%. Learn more here.

Can I refer a member?
Yes! Members who refer a new member get a $25 credit* on their account. Plus, the friend you refer will have their initiation fee waived (up to $59 in savings). Check out more info here.
*Annual members get a 10-day extension to their account instead of the credit. Member referral credit is limited to once per month. Initiation fees vary by location.
