The next Team Texas tryout will be held in August! Stay tuned for sign-up information.

Team Texas is a world-class youth climbing team. Team Texas athletes compete on the national (USA Climbing) and world level (International Federation of Sport Climbing). Athletes range from 7 to 19 years old and practices are hosted at Dallas/Fort Worth Movement gyms.

Founded in 1996, Team Texas is the longest-running, and most successful youth climbing team in the nation. While we are a competitive bunch, we also believe in the camaraderie that comes with being part of a team and having respect for the environment, as well as for each other.

The Team Texas mission is to provide youth athletes with the opportunities to experience the rewarding moment when hard work and commitment are matched with accomplishment and success. Team Texas consists of several sub-teams, all tailored to different skill levels and ages.

Pre Team
Pre-Team is for athletes between the ages of 7-10 that are driven to advance in their climbing. Athletes prepare for Core Team through age appropriate training, technique drills, individualized coaching, and local competitions.

Core Team

Most Team Texas athletes begin their competitive journey on Core Team! Athletes are between the ages 11 to 19 and are divided by location(s). Athletes train at minimum three days a week and compete in all climbing disciplines: rope climbing, bouldering, and speed climbing!

Elite Team
Elite Team is for athletes ages 11 to 19 that are committed to taking the next step in their climbing. Athletes follow a rigorous training schedule of four or more days a week to perform at a high level during competitions. Invitations to Elite Team are done on a season-by-season basis.

Speed Elite Team
Invitations to Speed Elite Team are issued on an annual basis Coach Merritt. Speed Elite Team is for athletes ages 11-19 who specialize in speed climbing. Speed athletes have two additional speed practices a week.
