Misery loves company. Join us at all 6 Movement DFW locations for 12HR25 on Saturday, August 16.

Registration opens in late June! Read on for comp info + how to prep for comp day

The day of days is upon us for our annual 12 hour competition, open to climbers of all levels (members and nonmembers alike)! From 8am-8pm, you and a partner of your choosing will tour all DFW Movement locations and climb as many routes and boulders as possible. If you were stuck on an island with one friend, who would you bring? That should be your partner – this comp is not for the faint of heart. (JK, it’s for everyone, but this sounds way cooler, right?)

We’ll wrap up the day with an after-party + awards ceremony at Movement Grapevine starting at 8:30pm! We’ll have drinks, a food truck, raffles, and more. The top 3 teams in each category will win awards (and ultimate bragging rights) at the end of the night!

Sound a bit crazy? Of course it doesn’t, because you’re fearless and NOTHING scares you.

How it works:

  • Step 1: Find your partner: ‘Cause misery loves company, of course. You and your partner can be different ages, genders, or skill levels-but everyone must be 13 or older to compete! If you and your partner are in different skill categories, you’ll register for the team award in the category of the stronger climber.
  • Step 2: Come up with a fun team name & costume: There will be a costume contest at the after-party with a prize for the winners! Feel free to go all out here and let your creativity shine, the bigger the better! Don’t let us down.
  • Step 3: Sign up (opens late June)! You and your partner will sign up as a team. Check out pricing + category information below! Your ticket gets you a t-shirt*, entry into the competition, access to our after-party at the Plano location, and entry to our raffle. The gym you choose will be the gym you start your day at 8am! Space at each gym for starting is limited, so register quickly to get your preferred start point. Pay attention to where you register- once you select a location, we cannot move you!
    • Pricing
      • Member Price: $100 per team ($50 per individual)
      • Non-Member Price: $120 per team ($60 per individual)
    • Categories:
      • The top 3 teams in each category will receive awards at the after-party! Pick the difficulty category with the hardest grade you have ever sent. Don’t be a sandbagger and put yourself in a category lower than you or your partner climb. We will find you, and we will bump you. (Reminder: if you and your partner are of different skill levels, pick the category of the stronger climber)
        • Recreational – 5.10a/V2 and below
        • Intermediate – 5.10b-5.11b/V3-V4
        • Open – 5.11c/V5 and up
      • Additional awards will be awarded to the top individual in each of the following categories: Men/Women/Non-Binary/Paraclimbing/Over 50.
      • Note for past 12HR competitors: this is different than years before! We wanted to put more emphasis on the team category to encourage partnership/teamwork, because at the end of the day, that’s what this competition is all about!
  • Step 4: We’ll see you bright and early on comp day – Saturday, August 16!

Tickets close on August 15th at 10pm or ’till sold out. T-Shirts are guaranteed for the first 400 sign-ups. Shirt sizing is first come, first serve.

  • day-of details

Check-in will start at 7am on the day of the competition. PLEASE be on time – we will have a brief rules meeting at 7:40am, just before the competition starts, and it’s important not to miss it! From there, you and your partner will travel all over DFW to climb at as many of our gyms as you can!

After Climbing ends at 8pm, all competitors are invited to attend the after-party and awards ceremony at Movement Grapevine starting at 8:30pm for drinks (alcohol 21+ with ID), a food truck with items for purchase, raffles, and fun!

  • how to earn points

    Scoring

We’ll score you on how many sends you make throughout the duration of the comp. We’ll have both routes and boulder problems on the scorecard – you can complete each route or problem up to FOUR times for points! Taller routes and problems are worth more points. Just remember – the taller the route, the more points. Reminder, inputting scores will be done through the KAYA app!

Travel to at least three of our gyms and get a huge point bonus! Travel to four and get a BIGGER bonus. Travel to six, and not only are you crazy, but you get the BIGGEST gym bonus. We’ll also have 12HRMM-specific yoga and fitness mini-classes going throughout the day – attend up to one fitness and one yoga class and get a point boost. Attend one of each to get extra bonus points! We will post the class schedule in the weeks leading up to the comp!

  • curated endurance workout plan

This year, we’ve built out a curated endurance workout plan to help you prep for comp day! With the competition heating up every year, you all are getting better and better at climbing for 12 hours straight (because, you’re insane, and we love you for that).

Get the edge on your competitors – start training now!

  • 2025 art design by hank st. john coming soon!

Hank is cooking up something great for 12HRMM25, but we aren’t ready to share it yet! In the meantime, take a look at last year’s design to get an idea of what you’ll be bringin’ home!

St. John grew up in western Texas, and moved to Dallas to attend the University of North Texas in 2010. Like many artistic folks, he’s been drawing since he was a kid, but he honed his surreal style while earning his printmaking degree. Outside class, he also spent long hours on intricate pen-and-ink drawings for local art showcases. His inspirations include the writings of Jorge Luis Borges and Franz Kafka, horror films, scientific illustrations, and Greek mythology.

registration opens in late June!

We’ll announce when registration opens through our social media + email newsletter. But start thinking about what gym you want to start at! The gym you sign up at will be the gym you start at the morning of 8/16! This is important because, well, we can’t have 500 of you start at one gym.
