Here at Movement you belong – whatever your current level or experience, we have classes that will help you progress as a climber and challenge you to grow. Our knowledgeable, motivating coaches delve into every layer and level of the climbing training journey.

Intro Classes 

Start your climbing journey here. In our intro series classes, you’ll build the fundamentals to support your climbing and personal climbing progression. These classes taken in order (or take the BRC package and then skip right to Intro to Training) will help you progress through your first 3-6 months of climbing.

  • Introduction to Bouldering

    Come learn to boulder. Our instructors create a fun, community-focused experience covering falling, bouldering etiquette, and basic movement skills. If you’re new to bouldering, this is the perfect class to get started on a new, lifelong passion.

  • Introduction to Rope Climbing

    Learn the basics of knot tying and belay technique! Designed for people with little or no climbing experience, this course teaches the skills needed to climb independently at the gym and is a great first-time climbing experience.

  • Introduction to Technique

    Feeling comfortable on the wall, and ready to begin honing your craft? In this two day class, we’ll cover key techniques to help you really progress in your climbing! Day 1, you will learn principles needed to drive movement from your toes, how to position your body and use handholds efficiently, and use breath to support your mind and movement. Day 2, you’ll get time to practice on your projects with feedback from our talented coaches. Leave with the skills to tackle most climbs through V4 and 5.10s.

Intermediate Classes 

Continue your climbing progression with classes that help bring awareness and purpose to your climbing from movement on the wall to mental game and leading skills. These classes taken together can help climbers with 3-6 months or more experience progress up through, on average, the V6 and 5.12 level.  

  • Peak Performance Team

    Come climb, train and progress! Whether you’ve got a specific route or boulder you want to climb, or you want to improve your technique, mental game or climbing fitness, join our adult team and we’ll help you achieve your goals—all ability levels welcome. Your Peak Performance Team dues include a full individual membership. Team members are encouraged to come in and climb/train at least one additional time each week, either on your own or with some of your fellow teammates to keep the stoke and progression going!

  • Learn to Lead with an ATC

    Over the course of two classes, learn the essential techniques necessary to lead climb and belay in the gym. Participants will be given the opportunity to practice taking and catching falls. This course is also a great first step for those with aspirations to lead outdoors.

  • Learn to Lead with a GRIGRI

    Over the course of two classes, learn the essential techniques necessary to lead climb and belay in the gym using the popular assisted braking device, the GRIGRI. Participants will be given the opportunity to practice taking and catching falls. This course is also a great first step for those with aspirations to lead outdoors.

  • Intermediate Leading: Falling and Catching

    Are you looking to improve your leading skills to be a better belayer and lead confidently? This class dives into the nuances of leading, covering precise slack management and scenarios like ledges/volumes/roofs and low clip falls. Practice and coaching on these risk management skills empowers you to face your fears on lead, belay with intention and build your climbing partnership. Come check it out!

  • Master Class: Lead Belaying with a GRIGRI

    In this hour long class you’ll learn how to use the GRIGRI, an assisted braking belay device, for lead belaying and catching falls. Plus you’ll get to practice on live lead with instructor support so you can build good GRIGRI lead belay skills and avoid developing bad habits.

  • Master Class: Heel and Toe Hooks

    Are you looking to take your footwork to the next level? In this 75 minute class, learn how to use heel rotation to power your hips, foot tension and placement to prevent your feet blowing off holds, and why and how to heel and toe hook. Through drills and direct coaching you’ll learn to bring new purpose and awareness to your footwork, a critical step to overcome that V5 plateau.

  • Master Class: Flags and Deadpoints

    Are you looking to take your climbing to the next level? In this 75 minute class, learn how to use flagging to stay balanced or create power, how and when to use body tension and how to deadpoint, a type of dynamic movement that will help you reach further. Through drills and direct coaching you’ll learn to bring new purpose and awareness to your center of gravity, a critical step to overcome that V5 plateau.

  • Master Class: Slopers, Pinches and Sequencing

    Do you struggle with harder climbs and using slopers or pinches? In this 75 minute class, learn how to use these challenging holds effectively, how to create compression for slopers and aretes, and how to sequence those tricky, harder climbs. Through drills and direct coaching you’ll learn to bring new purpose and awareness to your body positioning and sequencing, a critical step to overcome that V5 plateau.

outdoor development 

If the outdoors is calling and you must go, then this series is for you! 

Learn skills that will help support your transition to climbing outside. We can’t teach you everything you need to know to climb outdoors, but can help you get started. As a bonus, some of these skills help with indoor climbing too!  

  • Outdoor Development: Sport Climbing Outside

    Interested in moving your sport climbing outdoors? This 3 hour indoor class will provide hands-on experience with best practices for single-pitch sport climbing, including clipping bolts, building anchors, cleaning an anchor, and lowering. This class does not teach how to lead belay or lead climb (see Intro to Sport Lead for learning to lead belay and lead climb).

  • Outdoor Development: Crack Climbing

    A must-have skill for any trad or sport climber heading outdoors. Have fun learning the finer points of crack climbing. Topics covered in the two hours include understanding constrictions and body mechanics for hand and foot jams, foot placements, and heel/toe camming techniques.

  • Outdoor Development: Self Rescue Single Pitch

    This is one of our most important and intensive indoor courses. If you climb outside at all or are just interested in learning new rope skills, this class is for you! Each 3.5-hour class covers a range of topics, from the basics of friction hitches and anchors, and into top-managed rescues and hauling systems.

    Session 2 will build upon the skills learned in Week 1, by diving into lowering from above, basic haul systems, and escaping a belay.

    Prerequisites: Lead Belay Check. Experience belaying outdoors at a minimum. Exposure to outdoor single-pitch climbing is helpful, as many skills will reference outdoor rescue scenarios.
