There’s no other way to put it, this place is huge and the perfect place to learn and grow as a climber. We have more than 38,000 square feet of varied climbing terrain β just for some perspective, that’s the surface area of three Olympic-sized pools! And we certainly like to have fun here, from Harry Potter themed parties to canned food drives, we have a thriving community that is always excited to meet new friends. Meet the artist behind our 2025 Pride shirts, Helena Wu! π¨β¨ @helena_pocket
Helena is a freelance illustrator based in Rockville, Maryland. She has been climbing since 2016 as a boulderer at heart, though sheβll always offer to clean up sport anchors just to spend a little longer on the wall. She previously worked on the murals at Movement Rockville in 2023, always trying to bring her artistic and climbing hobbies together.
The biggest feature of this t-shirt design is a flowing lead rope, which symbolizes the many ways the queer community lives and loves, adding stars and sparkles for that extra touch of magic. Helena noted, βI wanted the dynamic motion to represent the dynamic range of the queer community, whether it is how people express themselves, or dress, or the actions they take throughout their lives.β
Having worked for Movement in the past, this collaboration is especially meaningful for her: βMovement welcomed me into the climbing community in 2016...this project feels like the best way I can give back to the climbing community through the power of fun art that people can proudly wear.β
